Oakley

Reflecting on this past year, it went by so fast.

For the majority of it, I felt under a time crunch. Everything had a deadline. On a regular basis, I’d check the time to see how much I had left to complete the task at hand. Despite being alarmingly aware of the time, though, it flew by. While some weeks went slower than others, the slowest by far were the last two weeks I got to spend in Kansas with family.

There, I was hardly aware of the time. Other than setting an alarm to wake up, I barely checked the clock at all. The result? Long days, lots of laughter, and leisure.

While it certainly took a few days before my tightly wound self could relax at the thought of not utilizing every second of the weeks before me being productive or working, it was a reset I desperately needed.

With the approaching new year, I’ve been thinking about things I’ve wanted to accomplish but haven’t due to ‘not having enough time.’ The truth is, though, it’s not that I don’t have enough time, and it’s not that time goes by too quickly. It’s that I’m not always intentional about using my time in the way I really want to. It’s so easy to get caught up in work, burnt out, and neglect your passions and relationships as a result.

As someone who constantly flip-flops between not having enough time and not wanting to do anything once I finally do, considering and adjusting my priorities was at the forefront of my mind during the close of the year.

I’m so incredibly grateful for the time I got in Oakley to break my routines, take a step back, and just be with some of the people I hold so dearly.

In consideration of such, here’s to a January blog, intentionality, and spending time a little more purposefully in 2023.
